Royal Caribbean Begins Construction on Fourth Icon Class Ship

Royal Caribbean’s fourth Icon Class ship is now officially under construction. The cruise line recently celebrated a keel-laying ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland to mark the start of the ship’s physical build. To kick off the process, the very first steel block was placed in the dry dock. Following maritime tradition, freshly minted coins were placed beneath the block for good luck. Royal Caribbean’s 1st Ship In New Class: Icon of the Seas

While we’ve known the brand-new Icon class of ships was coming, what we didn’t know, was the name of the first ship, until now. Royal Caribbean International marked the start of construction on its first Icon Class ship, revealing the name, Icon of the Seas during the steel-cutting ceremony at Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku, where the revolutionary ship will be constructed.
