Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Hits the Water

Legend of the Seas - First Float Out

Fresh off the launch of their 2nd Icon Class vessel, Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean next cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, has officially reached a major construction milestone. The vessel, which is the third in the Icon Class lineup, recently floated out at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, marking the next phase of its development ahead of its August 2026 debut.

To celebrate this moment, the ship’s dry dock was filled with water overnight in a 12-hour process. Once the dock was full, the ship was floated over to the outfitting dock, bringing it one step closer to completion.

Legend of the Seas will offer a variety of experiences across its eight neighborhoods, including adrenaline-pumping thrills at the Category 6 waterpark and Crown’s Edge, a unique skywalk, ropes course, and thrill ride. The ship will also feature a wide array of dining and drinking options.

For its inaugural season, the ship will offer 7-night Western Mediterranean vacations in Europe in the summer of 2026. It will then make its Caribbean debut in November 2026 with 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean vacations, including stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Legend of the Seas will also be the fourth Royal Caribbean ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). It will feature advanced environmental programs like waste heat recovery and shore power connection, helping the company move toward its goal of a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
