Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, has made its debut at Port Canaveral, arriving this morning to a water cannon escort before docking at the newly renovated Cruise Terminal 1.

The 248,663-ton Icon Class ship offers a wide array of amenities, including 40 bars and restaurants, and family-friendly attractions like the largest water park at sea, an ice skating rink, and an escape room. The ship has over 2,800 staterooms, with some suites accommodating up to nine guests.

Before beginning its regular seven-day eastern and western Caribbean cruises at the end of the month, the Star of the Seas will host a series of special showcase voyages and be officially named by music icon Diana Ross.

To celebrate its inaugural departure, Port Canaveral is hosting a “Star”-Studded Sailabration on Saturday, August 16, at Jetty Park. The free event, which begins at 3:30 p.m., will feature food trucks, a DJ, and themed giveaways. Visitors must purchase a parking pass for Jetty Park in advance.
