Holland America Line Elevates Onboard Entertainment with New Music, Shows, and Team Enhancements

Holland America Line - New Entertainment Offerings

Holland America Line is rolling out a major update to its onboard entertainment, bringing more live music, refreshed stage productions, and an enhanced team to its fleet. The changes are already underway on several ships, with the full rollout expected by next year.

What’s New Onboard Now

Six ships—Nieuw Statendam, Zaandam, Zuiderdam, Volendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, and Eurodam—are the first to experience these upgrades:

  • More Music: The new Vivace string duo or trio brings classical music back, while The Dam Band provides live accompaniment for production shows and guest performers on the World Stage.
  • Non-Stop Fun: Every night now features continuous entertainment with expanded shows on the World Stage,revamped setlists, and surprise cabaret performances. Look for live music in new spots like the Crow’s Nest and by the Lido Pool.
  • Local Flair: A new regional soloist program adds culturally inspired performances to each itinerary, from mariachi music in Mexico to folk guitar in Alaska. The popular Breton Thunder is also back on Canada and New England cruises.

 

A New Entertainment Team

By the end of 2025, a new, more visible team will be in place fleet-wide to elevate the onboard experience.

  • The Cruise Director will be the charismatic host of each voyage, supported by an Assistant Cruise Director.Expect lively atmospheres with hands-on classes, game shows, and themed parties.
  • Travel Guides will return to offer destination talks, Q&A sessions, and personalized port insights.
  • An expanded Activities Crew will lead everything from trivia to cooking demonstrations.

 

Exciting New Shows

Holland America is also introducing new shows to keep guests entertained:

  • “Welcome Aboard”: A high-energy show on the first night of each cruise that previews the exciting entertainment and activities for the entire voyage. It’s already on Eurodam and will be on all ships by summer 2026.
  • Popular Shows Return: Shows from the 2025 Grand Voyages are making a comeback on Volendam, Zaandam,and Nieuw Amsterdam. These include “Rock Britannia” (celebrating British rock), “Curtain Up” (Broadway hits), “Dance!” (a showcase of global dance styles), “Solid Gold” (music from the ’70s), “Crossroads” (country and folk legends), and “It’s A Swing Thing” (classic swing music).

These enhancements build on Holland America’s existing offerings, which include nightly music at Billboard Onboardand the Rolling Stone Lounge, as well as cultural presentations and expert talks on Alaska sailings. The goal is to provide rich, engaging experiences that are “too good to hurry through.”
